Model UN is a popular activity for those interested in learning more about how the UN operates. Hundreds of thousands of students worldwide take part every year at all educational levels. Many of today’s leaders in law, government, business and the arts – including at the UN itself – participated in Model UN as students.
After 70 years’ development, Model United Nations is now prevalent in many parts of the world. MUN conferences are of various forms, sizes, and levels with participants ranging from middle school students to university students. Meanwhile, at this point, MUN is not merely a simulation of the United Nations, but including that of global or regional multilateral organizations, cabinets, and international forums. Currently, the number of MUN conferences globally is approximately 400 and they are held in more than 50 countries. Annual participants are more than 4 million, coming from more than 100 countries.
What is Model United Nations all about?
Model United Nations (MUN) conferences are academic simulations of the United Nations (UN) and other organizations. In a MUN conference, students debate, negotiate, and form solutions to pressing and current global issues in a multi-party setting. They will represent stakeholders and member states of the UN, bringing with them their individual agendas and interests to form a resolution by the UN that is agreeable to the majority. MUN conferences offer students opportunities in academic and professional growth through developing their skills in research, public speaking, and networking.

Our past events
Since January 2020, GBAMUN has held five simulated United Nations conferences in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Foshan and online for national youth, designed more than 27 committees, and attracted nearly 1000 enthusiastic responses from 50+ universities and 70+ middle schools from different regions and cities as well as overseas.
When designing the committees of the previous conferences, we reinterpreted the events of great significance in history based on thinking of the current society, trying to guide the delegates to have a deeper thinking. In addition, we explore international topics, encouraging delegates to innovate constantly in the topics of preventing conflicts, realizing changes, promoting inclusiveness, and building the future so as to make concerted efforts to promote the realization of the 2030 SDGs of the United Nations and the construction of a community of shared future for mankind.
